Sparks Camp
A few weeks ago the girls and I went off to our very first Sparks camp! It was organized by the local Pathfinder group, and themed all around Valentine’s Day.
The older girls did a great job of planning great crafts, although they somehow forgot to plan to take the kids outside (which I spontaneously suggested in the afternoon. But an overnight in the local Guide camp dorms, tons of crafts and food made a wonderful introduction to Girl Guide camping for the kids.
- Making a carboard car… (Spice)
- Sugar concentrating on her cardboard car.
- The girls “drove” their cars to the hall next door and had a “drive-in movie” with popcorn, skittles etc. Very exciting!
- At the “campfire” at the end of camp.
- Sugar can barely contain her excitement!

Very cute! I bet they had a blast! LOVE the drive-in movie idea. I’m going to have to remember to do something like that with my 5-year-old niece!
I used to go to Pioneer Girls (‘Christian’ version of Girl Guides) when I was little and have very fond memories of it!
It was pretty hard to get them to sleep after juice boxres and skittles and popcorn, though!!!
P-shaw. If you will recall, dear sister, there was rarely sleeping at any of our Girl Guide camps, either…for all 11-12 years of it! That is half the fun! LOVE the drive-in car idea…that’s a new one to me. Did you sing some good ol’ camp songs?
It’s a bit of a different perspective when you have to deal with crabby kids the next day! lol
But you’re right – we didn’t sleep much either!
