10 days on the road
My girls and I took a long road trip together – that’s why you havn’t heard from us for a while.
We drove just over 3000km up north to see my parents and back again. Now, lots of people do this type of driving all the time (and I used to be one of them) but it was my first really long road trip with the girls – and by myself, to boot. 3000km and just one little 15 minute cry – that was it. Other than that, they were remarkably well behaved, jovial and enjoyed the heck out of it. Jrock flew up on the fourth day to join us, and stayed 2 nights. Then he and the dogs flew back to the Okanagan.
Through the week we visited my aunt and uncle en route, camped out twice with S in Prince George (Sugar is her namesake) and waited to see if her twins would appear. Up in Fort St. John, we had hotdog roasts at my parent’s cabin and with S’s parents, road quads, went for walks, made food, watched wild animals and celebrated my dad’s 61st birthday. this was all a surprise for my mom, who didn’t even know we were coming…
Enjoy the pictures!

Great collection of pics, Nicky – the last 2 are priceless!
Congrats on surviving your trip so well! I’m looking at a 2000 km road trip in June myself, which will also include Prince George. Biset in the back seat – Mom riding shotgun (THAT’s the part I’m worried about
)
Good for you for traveling with them via road. I’ve done that three times with my now-six-year-old (hubbie at home) and it’s a lot of fun!! You’re so right though – the key is being prepared!!! Love the pics.
Ruth
Looks like a great time – makes me even more excited about summer, and camping, and all that goes with it!
It is so neat watching your family grow together! To see how your journey has been from referral to now. It so inspiring! Glad your adventure went well…we tend to miss our daddy lots too:)
Yeah – it’s pretty amazing how fast kids grow. I mean, the days can go by slowly (or car ride hours!) but the months and years seem to fly by as they flourish and grow!
Wow, your girls are really sprouting up! Way to go for roadtripping it alone with the kids. You would have driven right past us (dawson creek). I have been thinking about heading to wpg by road alone with our 3 (ages 1, 3, 5), but have decided that would be too wild and I would be way too out-numbered!
Ah, the one year old might be a challenge, eh?
Here’s to road trips with the girls! We’ve done our share as well. What fun to surprise your Mom! It looks like you had a great adventure up north. The girls have had so many wonderful experiences. This is what family is all about.
Yes! He is definitely more work then the 3 and 5 year old combined (and before we got him I thought that the older kids were ‘busy’! hahaha!)
Great to see you in the pics Nicky. I can count on one hand the pics I’ve been in, in the last 18 mos and even tho I ask for pics to be taken I get finger nail size versions of me??
