Love it! Cant wait til my daughter is big enough to play with her brio train set (the table has lived under my bed for 2 years and the train set has been in my closet for about ten…) I love the wooden trains, and I especially love that in this plastic, electronic world the train sets are wood, child driven and just inspire their imagination…. ;) Robyn

Hey, just curious if you’d seen this yet, and what discussion within the American-Ethiopian adoption community is like on the subject.

sooo fab!! I have spent oh so many moments doing that very same thing! (me nursing a soy Rooibos tea) Noah is VERY into trains..Thomas specifically. The train set we bought 8 years ago has been used sooo much, so very worth the splurge! Now older and yonger siblings alike set up elaborate systems throughout the homeschooling/living room. We added a Plan road set a while back too, sooo fun!!

They will be thrilled! great choice mama and papa!

We have huge boxes FULL of Thomas stuff. Though my boys are older now, I still hang on to it with the hopes of grandkids 15 years or so down the road!!!!

And I’d LOVE a Rooibos tea right now… I have a cupboard full of various loose Rooibos.. and now I’m craving.. lol

    Hello CB –

this report was actually run a few months ago… There has been a lot of clearing the air and fall outs since.

I think that the adoption communiy is more wary and careful of child trafficing than anyone lese – after all, we are talking about our children. But there were several inacuracies about the adoption community in general in that piece – ie: “all the mother gets in compensation is a photo of her kids.” Well, that’s all we can legally give, since anything of monetary value would be construed as child trafficing.

I think there are some bad people doing things in the world of international adption, as everywhere. However, the vast majority of Ethiopian adoptions are of kids whose parents can’t care for them, due to HIV, poverty, death, etc. All the birth parents I met visiting various families at the guest house were well aware of exactly what kind of decisiont hey had made for their kids. And a very important correction: of all the hundreds of general Ethiopians I met in Addis, NONE of them was opposed to adoption.

Lots of other people blogged on the topic way back when so I’ll just leave it at that.

Thanks for the link, even if it is old news. :-)

    Cheers
    Nicky.

Glad to hear the train was such a hit with everyone – let’s hope our girls like it just as much!

My two boys love the train at Chapters so last Xmas we got them the ‘cheap’ version of Thomas the train set. They SELDOM use it and finally I figured out why they weren’t playing with it: they where missing the interaction of the other kids, people saying hi and the Starbucks’s apple juice. Unlike my boys, I’m sure Sugar and Spice will have many fun times w/ their Santa gift.

    Happy Holidays!
