Our thoughts are with you

Oct. 30th | Posted by 10 comments

Jrock’s best friend K and his family suffered a terrible loss Wednesday, and we just found out last night.  K’s sisters are the closest thing to sisters Jrock ever had, and now the quiet, shy and thoughtful sister, with a three year old son, is a widow.

Her husband, a really nice quiet guy we’ve sat in the farm kitchen and at wedding dances with for the past few years, was killed 10 days into his second tour of duty in Afghanistan.  132 soldiers may not be a lot to lose in a mission as big as this, in theory, but it  certainly feels like one too many when you know the soldier.  It’s so sad that he was killed trying to help other people live in peace and safety…

Take care, family – our hearts are with you.

What a sad tragedy. Please pass on our thoughts and prayers. Last August, Kristin’s cousin was killed in Afghanistan as well leaving behind a wife and daughter. So difficult to wrap our minds around, still is.

So sorry to hear this. I believe he is the soldier that came home yesterday and wanted to pass on that I was driving down the 401 highway around the time the motorcade came through and every bridge was full of people waiting for him. Police, fire and ambulance with lights on were waiting on the bridges, on the ramps and people were pulled over all with flags. His service was recognized by many and appreciated. Sorry for your loss.
