Our first few days home
We’ve been getting our feet under us… Jrock went back to work the day after we got home, so the girls and I have been keeping busy: baking bread, going to the beach, hanging out the laundry, etc. We still haven’t unpacked, but that’s the way it goes. They are upstairs watcvhing football with Daddy right now so I have a moment to post.
—
Ok, so then they started throwing a tantrum upstairs over one of their new toys and Daddy and I put them down for a nap!
—
Anyway, here are some pictures from the first few days. The pics of our trip will start appearing next week
The first day home. They really dig their room.. and strangely, wanted to sleep in their own beds right off the bat (having never slept apart, this surprised the heck out of us.) They love their starbucks mugs – although when we went to fill up at the local coffee shop all they wanted was water.
Eating breakfast. They really love boiled oat groats (traditional brekkie food in ET) and since it’s cheap and healthy – bottoms up!
Making bread with Mommy. They are really helpful. We need to get some bigger stools or something for the kitchen, though…
Watering the Cucs. this is the only time they have gone out in the back yard, since they are still really REALLY afraid of Maggie and Laughlin (who were inside when I took this picture.) Unfortunately, I missed most of the harvest this year – peas and beans went to seed, but we did enjoy the peaches of the tree, turnips and carrots!
Fab girls. Our girls get to choose what they wear – check out Spice’s exceedingly funky outfit on the left! Complete with the Minny Mouse shoes and the mohawk ‘do’s. That one will be a cool dresser, I think. Sugar is more functional – still pretty though!

Great pics! Nice to see everyone settling in nicely at home.

Hi ‘Nicky and Jrock’,
I look at your girls and I can’t believe they are FINALLY here. Must be the best and most amazing feeling to finally see them in their beds!! They are very cute! My girls will be home on Sept 13th. can’t wait. I do also have 1 question. Are you using their Ethio or Canadian names or a combination of both. I am just wondering how and when you started the transition between the names?
So happy for you all,
Carrie
I love the mohawk puffs! Sooo cute!
Glad everyone is settling in well!
Michelle
Mmm! Boiled oat groats are my fave too!
Your house is lovely and their room is so cute.
What fun pictures–so glad you’re back safely with your little girls!
They are adorable!!!! And look so happy- as do mommy and daddy
Congratulations!!! welcome home.
Noelle
well, really, the Minnie Mouse shoes *make* the outfit.
Love the ‘hawks! They’re already taking after me! Glad to see the girls are adjusting well. To be honest, if I was their size, I’d be scared of the dogs, too! (well, laughlin, anyway…)They’ll adjust to the furries, it’ll just take some time.
I’m also glad they like the room. Which twin got which side, though? Do they know/understand that I ‘drew’ it for them? They must be excited and overwhelmed by all their new stuff!
Glad to hear you’re all doing well- and so nice to finally see some pics of Daddy and the girls!
Can’t wait to see you all in a couple weeks! I’m counting the sleeps…
Nikkie & J Rock,
You’re girls are precious! Those are fabulous pictures, they warm our hearts looking at them. What size clothes are they wearing right now? Glad to hear they are settling in. When you are up for a visit, let us know.

Oh my word, they are SO cute!
I love that you aren’t dressing them the same, and you let them express their own personalities through their clothing choice! My mom used to dress me and my sister who’s 3 1/2 years younger than me in the same outfits (just different sizes) all the time, and I hated it!
Especially since when we got older, she would still dress the same as me all on her own!
They are simply precious! And they look incredibly joyful with whatever they are doing. So happy for all of you…
OMGosh.. where to start? lol.. first of all, the pic of Jrock and the girls is awesome.. he looks so proud! LOVE the pic of them eating breakfast, they look so totally content and happy! Also, I LOVE your spice jar set-up in your kitchen.. lol. And the last pic is so freaking cute.. it needs to be blown up, framed and hung on your wall!
Awww… they are absolutely adorable! Welcome home!
Hi! Answers to a few questions…
They are bascally wearing size 2 now – and size 7 shoes. They are PETITE little girls! Although their tummies are big (deworming soon to happen…)
We are using their Ethiopian names mostly – we used them exclusively until about a week before we left ET, and tnow we use their Canadian one hyphenated with their Ethio one. they like that – but it’s a big jump to their Canadian name, and I’m not sure they will make it or not. They are decisive little women and will definitivly make the choice…
Cheers
Nicky
Welcome home to everyone! We wish we could be there to welcome you in person – we’re on the coast right now. Enjoy your time together getting to know each other all over again at home. Your girls are very precious!
Gina
