Good news from Nicky this morning. A representative from the transition home went to the meeting the ministry of womens affairs was having in Addis and got the paperwork signed. We should have their Ethiopian passports in a couple of days and then everything will be sent to Nairobi. I am holding off travel bookings for now until we hear how things are being processed at the high commission because we hope that I will be able to travel back with everyone.
Nicky and R are well. They are settling Sugar and Spice into a new routine. This involves regular eating, play, and nap times. The kids seem more settled and have really bonded to Nicky. I have talked to them on the phone multiple times which mostly involves me talking and them listening and occasionally saying “Daddy” or amharic words. Nicky and R are quite exhausted by the end end of the day and collapse into a long slumber in the evening.
I am organizing a few odds and ends around home. As many of you know we have had some large fires in our area, but fortunately for us, they are across the lake and I have not been evacuated. But, we do know families in the evacuation area and wish them the best and a speedy and safe return to their homes!
Great to hear that things are moving along for your family. Hopefully very soon you will all be playing, napping, snacking etc. together. Good to hear that the fires haven’t affected you yet too. I was thinking of you guys yesterday when I was listening to the update on the fire status. Hopefully you’ll have no need to evacuate ever.
Great news- hope that things keep going well and that all other documents are received sooner than later.

Wow, it sounds like things are coming together wonderfully, despite the situation… they sound like charming little girls, and Nicky sounds like she’s settling into motherhood beautifully!

It is good to hear the optimism in your report today, JRock. I’ll be checking back regularly to follow the family’s progress. Our thoughts are also with your friends and neighbours who have been affected by the fires in your area. Thankfully, you haven’t had to evacuate, and hopefully it won’t come to that! this is such great news.. I have been anxiously reading your blog for updates on your family. I am glad that sugar and spice are settling into their new routine. I am sure you cant wait to have them all home. Sending all of you lots of positive thoughts, and speedy visas so that you will soon all be home together!!
Well that is a huge relief for you to have those documents and being on your way to getting your girls visas. I hope that they are processed very quickly and that you are traveling to meet your family very soon.
This is amazing!!!!! I’m SO happy to read that someone went to the MOWA people for you and got the darn thing signed. That is so great.
And so wonderful to know that the girls are doing well.
