Nicky and R meet girls!
Well today was the day we had been working towards for so long! I was able to talk to Nicky briefly about Sugar and Spice. She said they are very SMALL. She can easily carry both of them. Spice’s hand wraps entirely around her thumb. She said they are even cuter in person. They are definitely twins, when one cries the other cries, when one has to pee the other one does. Spice is more outgoing and Sugar is very shy. They were really scared and seeked the comfort of their caregivers etc. Nicky says they seeked out the men for comfort more, so hopefully they will bond to me well. Nicky was playing a game with them with a balloon. Tomorrow, they will pick them up forever!!!
Nicky and R went to the Canadian consulate in Addis to speak with the minister there. He said he was well aware of the situation and his mom had MySpaced him about it as well, LOL. Unfortunatly, emergency passports will not be able to issued from there but he is working on the situation. Everything is going to have to be done through the high commission in Nairobi.
In regards to our adoption, we are waiting for the ministry of womens affairs to come back from a two week training session in order to produce paperwork that needs to be completed in order for Ethiopian passports to be produced and sent to Nairobi.
I have been in communication with our MP and am going to our MLAs office this afternoon. I also have an interview with CBC radio in Kelowna tomorrow morning (wish me luck). Nicky was on CBC radio this morning (apparently).
Fortunately I have had the last two days off work, and I am holding up ok. I really wish I wasn’t here though, but soon my day will come too.

Okay, this post is what I’ve been waiting to read all afternoon!! I am so happy to hear that Nicky has seen them and that they’ll be with her tomrrow!
And they’re even cuter in person?? Seriously, how can that be??
Certainly you are in our thoughts and we can’t wait for all of you to be united together!!
We are thinking of all of you. It is wonderful to hear about the girls first hand and I’m sure that was the highlight for Nicky in this whole mess. Jrock, you are truly a rock. I know how hard it must be to be at home right now and not with all your girls. They will need to in the next weeks to lean on. We continue to pray that a formal plan is made for all the families with referred children and that you can all be united soon.

and waiting for Abebu and Abebech (4)
I am so happy that Nicky has finally been able to touch Sugar and Spice in person to make sure they are real. I hope that your turn will happen really soon. I am sure the girls will take to you well – Mekdes took to Tim first – her and I took a little while.

I’m so happy to know that your girls are okay and Nicky is with them! But I can only imagine how hard it must be on you knowing that you thought you would experience that moment together : (
I’m so sorry that this crap is happening to you guys. But i hope you can get on over to Addis too!
Hang in there!
oh…. and are there any chance of pictures???
Ok, totally teary-eyed over here!
I, too, have been waiting all day for this post!
Good luck in your radio interview! You will do great!
So glad Nicky finally met them! And I am sure they are absolutely adorable! I know it must be hard for you here at home, but hang tough, your time will come Daddy.
Thanks so much for continuing to post on the blog. We’re all wishing for a speedy homecoming for the families who have hopped on planes to Ethiopia to take their children into their care.
I’m so glad Nicky met your girls and will have them with her tomorrow.
Hope you’re all united very soon.

I love a little bright light on a dreary day
Blessings to your amazing wife, and your whole family. What she is doing for all of us is truly amazing.
oh, they will be in your arms soon J!! I can’t imagine how hard it must be to be so far away from them. BUT they will be with Nicky forever tomorrow…holy crap!! And hopefully home even sooner then you thought!
Sending you loads of positive thoughts for tomorrow and will be listening to CBC!
Oh, I’m so happy they’ve finally met!! Can’t wait to hear that Nicky has taken them “home” with her tomorrow! Hey, I have an interview with CBC tomorrow too, but it’s CBC in Langley. They want me to go to the studio early in the morning and tape it and then air it five minutes after that. Not quite sure how that works, but anyway, maybe I’ll see you there.
Thanks everyone for your support. I will be at the CBC in Kelowna. I do not think we will get any pics until Nicky gets back with the camera. We are not sure about downloading the pics in Addis if it is possible. Nothing today for sure because there was no power there at all. Apparently they only have power every other day right now.
JRock Your Ontario family is so happy that at least one of you has had the opportunity to finally meet Sugar and Spice. Now the prayers continue for nicky and the girls to have a speedy return home. Love H,K and C
Yay! So glad to hear they have met the girls, and will have them forever tomorrow! Cannot wait to see pics, and still sending prayers and positive thoughts across the ocean!
Your news is so exciting. We can’t wait to see pictures and to hear of your meeting with the girls, too.
