A day like no other!
This is J Rock posting for Nicky. Today has been quite possibly the most craziest, gut wrenching, scary, and exciting days ever. I wanted to do this post to keep our family updated and friends because we have not had the time to contact everyone. We learned this morning of terrible news regarding our adoption agency in Canada, Imagine adoption. Imagine adoption is officially bankrupt, for what reason we are not entirely sure. The accounts the transistion home relies on to feed and care for our children have been frozen.
Nicky and I had serious concerns regarding our children and where they would be taken care of in the coming weeks, therefore, we decided that it would be best if Nicky travel to Ethiopia immediately. We do not know what will happen when she gets there, but we are hoping that Sugar and spice will be in her care withing the next few days. Nicky is travelling with her mom, R.
The plan for now is that Nicky will stay with the kids and her mom in Addis and try to get the court docs on there way to Nairobi to complete the citizenship process. She will wait there indefinitely until they can travel home. R will be there for 3 weeks. If Nicky gets the kids, I will be travelling there in 3-4 weeks. Nicky could be there for months, we really don’t know
Although I am not a religious man, I would ask you that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers. I will be keeping the blog updated while she is gone to keep everyone informed
-J rock

Wow…I am speechless…
Cory and I will be sending you positive thoughts are you go through this trying time. We are praying that Nicki and her mom find the girls quickly and that the citizenship papers can be moved along quickly.
I am so sorry that you are going through this! I wish your family a safe trip and return with your daughters.
Thinking of you,
Laura
I am so sorry that it has come to this. We will hope and pray that Nicki returns home safely with your daughters soon.
Take care,
Mary
Hi Jrock,
Dimitri and I were also with Imagine. We had been waiting for referral. I am glad Nicky has chosen to go. I think it is the best decision and you can ensure your girls are being fed and cared for 100%. I have followed your story for months and after I stopped crying for myself, I cried for you and Nicky. I hope everything works out and you can bring them home soon. I am leaving on holiday (whatever-such a great holiday it will be now…:( ) but will try to check back to see how you are doing.
Take care,
Claire
you’re in my thoughts (and my atheist version of prayer!) and I’ll be following along to see you through the happy conclusion to this awful, crazy-making process!!! hang in there!!!
big hugs,
tiffani
Our thoughts and prays will be with your entire family during this stressful time. Safe travels for everyone and hopefully you can be reunited as a complete family very soon!
Dear Rowan family,
I am praying for all of you and your beautiful daughters, I can imagine the fear and pain in hearing the terrible news. I do have faith that you will all be together because my husband and I have been blessed by adoption; I believe that children of adoption grow in your hearts and that bond will not be broken. May peace fill your hearts as you near your destination to your daughters.
God Bless,
God Speed!

My thoughts are with you both. I hope that Nicky can call you soon with good news and put Sugar and Spice on the phone to talk to their Daddy.
-Kari
You are in our thoughts and prayers along with the many families also affected by this heartbreaking news. May thinks go well for Nicky in Addis, and may you have your girls home quickly and without further drama.
Thinking of you guys and hoping for safe travels… for all.
Wow. My heart goes out to you guys, Will be thinking of you.
J Rock,
Could you please PM me as to where Nicky is staying? I too am going over and plan on staying until my son’s PRV is ready. It would be nice to be in touch with others in the area.
Thanks,
Lorie
Jrock – I hope that Nicky has a safe trip and is able to make some progress in getting your girls home. You have been through enough bumps. I am hopeful that it will not be long and they will be in your arms safe and happy.
Yvan and I are thinking of you both during this incredibly difficult time.
We hope all goes well in getting all the necessary paper work done so you can bring your sweet girls home.

I know how you feel, sort of, as I am in the similar boat with the same agency. Your adoption journey has been quite eventful, huh? I really hope everything works out for you & Nicky, and for everyone associated with the agency. We’re in limbo, we’ve been waiting for a referral for a little over 4 months, so we were not even close to referral. I’m sure God is watching over you & Nicky, and Sugar & Spice, and he’ll make sure everything works out in the end. Of all the things I thought might happen with our adoption, this was not even on the list.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys right now, and with all the families impacted by this. Here’s hoping for a safe trip for everyone, and a union very soon with your beautiful girls.
My fingers are crossed that Nicky will be able to get the paperwork in a matter of weeks (not months). Alex and I are still in shock, as we are with Imagine as well. Good luck and I hope your family has good news to share with us soon.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I wish there was something the larger adoption world could do for you and your family and the other families touched by this.
We will be praying for you guys. Our hearts are breaking for the many families affected by this, and especially those we have come to follow and know. We will pray for safe travels and quick completions so your family can be united together at home. Our love to you.
We will be praying for you and all of the families affected by this. blessings to all of you.
Debbie
I am so sorry this is happening to you guys. You are both in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated and let us know if there is anything you need! Seriously!!!
WOW.
I’m at a loss for words!
You sure got your successful court date JUST in time, though! WOWOWOWOW! It’s amazing how things work, heh?
Anyways, totally praying for your family. Can’t wait for a good update that Nicky has the girls and all is well!
I’m glad Nicky is on her way over there. Our Ethiopian adoption seems to be effectively over as of yesterday, but it would make me feel better to know that your kids are safe and sound with Nicky. Please keep us posted. Our prayers are most definitely with you.
Alysia & Derrick
Jrock & Nicki,
My prayers and thoughts are with you. I have been on holidays the past 10 days – left on July 2 so didn’t have time to check your blog for news, but thought about you during our camping trip. So was hopeful to see that you’d finally made it through cout when I checked in this morning. Then to see THIS news!!! (At least it confirmed, reading between the lines, that you had indeed made it through court, which I double-confirmed by going down to the July 2 post…) I literally cannot believe this. (Well, I do, but it’s so incredible…) Bad management or what?!!??@*$? I immediately think of all the people I know who are waiting for referral, or for court, or for immigration paperwork… This must affect hundreds of families in Canada, not to mention the children in Ethiopia, at the Transition Home and the new Faith Village (what’s happening with THAT??!!?) and…
My prayers that Nicki and her mom will be able to take custody of the children and oversee the immigration process themselves – and I sure hope it happens faster than 3 months. I would do the same thing if I were in your boat, I’m sure…
Please do keep us updated.
Roma
JRock Thanks so much for sharing the update. We are all with you and the ladies on this grand adventure. I am sorry that you did not get to all go together and that you have to adapt to this crazy ride so fast. I think we are all in shock. I am also with Imagine and am adjusting to the new reality. So glad someone is on the way over.
Thinking of you all
Shannon
Ps please keep us updated if there is any way we can help from Canada or any way to get money to the staff in ET
My thoughts and prayers are with you both and your beautiful daughters during this challenging time. Safe travels to Nicky!
Thinking of your families and hoping that you are home with your daughters sooner than you could think possible.
Here’s to uniting your family swiftly and may you not face months of separation! Many of us are very disheartened to hear of this situation – even those of us who are not in the adoption process…
I feel so badly for all those who are affected by this horrible news! I hope Nicky’s and her mother’s travels are safe and your children are quickly placed in their arms…Peace to you, Jrock…the waiting and not knowing are very difficult! You and Nicky are in everyone’s thoughts!
T
I just heard the news….I am so sorry that you guys have to go through this!!! we are praying like mad that everything goes smoothly in Ethiopia…thank the creator that you have already passed court!!
I can’t even wrap my head around this…wow…..safe travels Nicky!! hope you will be there soon Jrock!
so much love to you both~ and to sweet sugar and spice!
Shocking! I thought of you guys as soon as I read all the news this morning. I will definitely say a prayer for you all and hope that everything gets resolved and your children will be home with you soon in Canada. You and your girls have been through so much already, I can’t believe this is happening to you guys.
Cheryl
Thank you J for updating this blog. I have been so upset thinking about your family (and a multitude of others) since I heard the news yesterday afternoon. You family was first and foremost in my mind though because you have already been through so much.
I hope that everything goes smoothly for Nicky. I’m sure that the staff in Ethiopia are doing everything they are able. I can’t wait to hear that the girls are safely in Nickys arms and that you are traveling there to meet your girls.
Addis Ababa is a welcoming city and Nicky will have no trouble there on her own. However I hope that the Canadian government is able to step in and expedite the necessary immigration paperwork. Friends of ours flew to Nairobi (from Adddis) and picked up their visa in person. I’m sure that they would be willing to share information with you if you feel it would be helpful. I think that my email shows up on this post and you can email me privately and I put you in contact with my friends.
Alicia in Victoria, BC
Safe travels. . . you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Here’s to hoping you can be reunited as a family very quickly and that things go smoothly in Ethiopia.
Wow, good luck Nicky. J Rock I am so sory that you are unable to go as well, not the ‘Gotcha Day’ you probably planned out. I hope it all works out and that your gorgeous daughters are home with you soon.
Thinking of you all
Lyndey
Our prayers are certainly with you. I am just sick over hearing this. Safe travels for Nicky.
Big hugs to you both. xo
Oh my goodness…I’m excited that she’ll get to see the kids way before she thought she would, but obviously the circumstances aren’t good. My prayers are with you and thanks for keeping us updated!
take care,
nathalie and family
Hello, Jrock, Nicky & Ena,
I was going to put this comment on the most recent post, but it wouldn’t let me. There appears to be something ‘up’ with the homepage of the website, at least on my computer. I’m not sure that all of Ena’s post is there and the usual sidebars are missing. I thought at first that you had choosen to hide information knowing that this story is starting to spread quickly and perhaps you were concerned about privacy. But then I realized that with a couple clicks I could still see all your old posts.
You continue to be in my thoughts…..
I am so relieved to hear that she is one her way. The young women at the Weygoss can help her by finding her a place to live, I’m sure, and hopefully the drivers can assist her in the process. Thank goodness for that final courtdate going through.
Keep us posted
Heather
I am sooo glad to hear that Nicky is on her way to the girls. You are all in my thoughts and prayers and I can’t wait to read that Mommy and daughters are safe and together.
Sending positive vibes your way. I am certain that although it will be a fight. The battle is already won.
Thank you so much for letting us know what is happening with you all. It give the ones, like us, who have almost lost home something to look forward to. Good luck to you all and bring home your girls safe.

Sending prayers from the south of the valley that Nicky has a safe trip and that the girls are home in Canada SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
