Two weeks ago I made my annual trip up north.

Officially, I go up there to work - but really, I could do everything from home.  The real reason is to see my family - my parents still live up there and my brother and sister-in-law are living up there for two years as well.  It’s also nice to touch base with my roots and where I grew up.

One of the highlights was getting to go out boating twice - we did this so much growing up and I really miss it.  My dad’s boat has been out of commission for two years but we got to take out another one belonging to a friend (that my dad built years ago.) I’ve included a short video of our two mellow trips below.

Enjoy the pictures… they give you a taste of Northern life.

A little riverboating video (warning - very mellow!)

  1. looks like loads of fun!! My Dad lives in Fort St John so we are making a trip up North this summer as well. My hubby has never been farther then north then Williams Lake (he’s an Ontario boy)…boating on the Peace sounds like a good way to spend some time.

  2. Wow. I didn’t think it was possible, but you actually made me homesick with that video. I’m really jealous right now that you all got to go. I’m going to have to start harassing Dad to get the boat fixed! (Dad, you and me, Muskwa, August. Is it a date?)
Would you mind sending me a few of your stills of Mum and Dad from the video? They’re really nice…I even wouldn’t mind a couple of B and D. Looks like you had a great time. Wish I could have been there.
    Love.

  3. You got some great shots - looks like a fun trip.

  4. Jenn - that is so interesting… maybe our parents know each other!

Silly Ena - I will send you some :-)

  5. Ahhh…I am also on my way up to the Peace River (the town and the River) next week. We are looking forward to a few days on the River and enjoying the amazing scenery. Thanks for the preview!

  6. Well, isn’t that nice Shauna! You should really enjoy it - the weather looks like it should be a big bit better than when I was there! :-)
