Nothing too nuts

May. 8th | Posted by 9 comments

So I’m now checking with the agency about what I can and cannot do – and they are doing the same.  You have to be careful in these situations not to interfere where you are not wanted or supposed to be.  (And just so you don’t think otherwise by my lack of information disclosure – our agency Imagine has been great.)

That said, I realized this morning that I am so lucky that I have resources and friends to call on halfway across the world – at a moment’s notice. No – I will not be jumping on a plane anytime soon (a drop of irony there) but I think I’m done being the passive waiting adoptive parent.  It wasn’t me anyway.

Good for you! I’ve followed your adoption story so closely (as we are waiting to bring our twin girls home as well!) and I have been aching for you guys every time you hear news on court dates. We too are trying to find the balance between calling and checking or quietly waiting. (lately the calling has won) It’s such a hard call sometimes. In the end you need to be true to who you are – just as you are doing. We are with cafac, and after talking with them it has become clear that our attitudes (the adoptive parent) is often what makes the difference – knowing you from the blogs and boards, I am sure that you are working with a positive attitude and will work together for your girls.

I hope you have some positive resolution soon!

For your sakes, and you daughters’, I so hope that they come home very, very soon. I long for the “good ol’ days” when from start to finish and in our arms, 7 months felt like a long time!

I think your patience so far as been so amazing. I have so much respect for you guys!
I on the other hand was a nutbar, and had no patience. Proud I am not.LOL!
I really hope you hear good news soon and get the answers that you desire. A momma needs to do what a momma needs to do! I know you will do what needs to be done in a way that is positive for your girls!
Fingers, toes and eyes crossed for all of you.

Ah Yes! I have shared your feelings of wanting to get there no matter what. After we failed court (4 in total)I was calculating in my head how much and how fast I could get there and just wait out the nightmare that was court. I so wanted to be there with my daughter. But alas common sense ruled and I had to wait. Now our court issues were not the same as yours but I do understand your feelings. This is hard and I hope things get sorted out so you can finally make plans to travel. You have a great attitude and that will help get you through this. Just think the reward in the end will so be worth it! :) YOu will have your girls! They need you just as much as you need them so I am confident answers are on there way :)
Hang in there. I’ll be thinking of you and waiting for good news!

From what I’ve been reading on your blog, it seems that you’re handling this devastatingly difficult situation with such a strong, positive attitude. Don’t know how you do it, but carry on! I really hope to read some great news here soon. You, your husband and the girls very much deserve it.

I am so sorry that it is taking so long to get information. In our first adoption application we were told the same by CAFAC. I am glad that you feel confident with Imagine because we certainly did not with CAFAC. We have currently applied again through Imagine. At the time we even investigated the idea of hiring a lawyer in Ethiopia because CAFAC could not find our file or provide us any informaiton. In the end Deborah went to Ethiopia and our file and three others were sent back to Canada with nothing but a note from CAFAC. At the time they were making the decision my husband had had brian surgery and they within thier right to return our file. We were hoping they would hold on to it until we could provide updated health results. In the end the results of the surgery were excellet but we were forced to reapply. So CAFAC would be giving you the same advice. It was my impression that Ethiopia does not appreciate families steping out of the system. I have my fingers crossed that you will receive positive informaiton soon!

Good for you Mama!!! I’m excited for you….everywhere I look things seem to be happening for people where moments before they seemed stagnant. kinda like being in Narnia when the animals where whispering “Aslan is on the move”.

The finger puppets are a great idea!! oh, and those little mini magna doodles….so great because they can draw and draw without going through a million sheets of paper or loosing their pencils/crayons. oodles of fun for wee ones! (and mama’s and papa’s!)

    xo
