Just for your amusement…
I work at home a lot – so Laughlin and Maggie often get ignored while I’m typing on the computer.
Laughlin has, in his own way, solved the problem of me not paying enough attention to him. 
He climbs up in my lap, and goes to sleep while I rest my elbows on him and type away.
Seriously, who could resist?
My cat used to jump up on my lap all the time too when I was at the computer – or reading in my chair, or eating at the table. I would usually let her take her “rightful spot” and keep my lap warm. (The only requirment – if at the table, she had to keep her head down!)
My lap lounger is Miss Malía! And SHE doesn’t sit still! LOL
Who can resist that cute little Cairn face! How sweet!
