Oh no.
The first court date didn’t go through.
Our second court date is booked for January 28th.
One whole month more waiting to see if the girls become ours.
I am so disappointed and worried…
This is just not cool.
Oh Nicky! I’m SO sorry to hear this. I can’t believe it. My heart just stopped when I saw your post. You are so strong, I know that you can get through this next month. Not that that is what you want, but I know you will somehow pull through.

I’m so sorry to hear that court was not successful.
I just wanted to say how sorry I am about the news affecting your court date. We too had a similar circumstance happen when adopting our daughter. The heading was wrong at the top of the MOWA letter and had to be redone in order for the court to be finalized. It lead into things taking longer for all the follow-up paperwork and thus our journey to “Gotch-Day” was longer. I have been following along in your blog and on the Canada Adopts Ethiopia chat group. At one point I was very active in the chat group, but am more of a silent follower now. Nothing I can say will make you feel better. Just know many people are thinking of you in these hard times. Take Care.

So sorry to hear this. It may be just a technicality and nothing to really worry about, but it is still disconcerting and delays things. Know that the Ethiopian staff do all they can to ensure successful court dates (including hunting down birth relatives and driving them to court, since many are poor and can’t travel the distance themselves). Will be thinking of you; hoping for better news in January.

Oh Nicki, I’m so sorry for you guys!! Do you have any idea why it didn’t go through? I’m sure it was some sort of technicality, and it will get sorted and by the end of January those girlies will be officially yours!! The adoption roller coaster just doesn’t ever run smoothly, does it???

Thanks everyone… it would just be nice if we had some certainty – delays are unavoidable and to be expected… but it would be so nice if we knew the adoption was a 100% sure thing so we could just RELAX….
That sucks!! I am sorry it happened to you too. I do not wish the 2nd court date (or more) on anyone. I hope January is successful for us both.
Crappy news. I hope that they can get the paperwork right next time. Once our court date was over I was able to relax a bit because I knew that no matter what Sofia was ours and would join our family.
Not cool indeed. You want to be able to invest with your whole heart so it doesn’t get broken. Hoping for the best for you in late Jan.
