Rowan Family Tree

It’s Beginning to Feel a Lot Like…

Dec. 11th | Posted by 7 comments

My dad was in town visiting last weekend, and we decided to make a family day of it and went to get our Christmas tree.  We had a long debate about the good and bads of cultured vers wild trees, fertilized vers non-fertilized.  Only in our house.  And in the end, we ended up with a local Christmas tree, farmed locally, but nicely shaped so it was probably fertilized.  There you go.

Well, way to take the fun out it, e?!? Enough of the tree business – let’s get onto the Christmas part!

I tuned up the guitar for Dad and he strummed away… we drank hot chocolate and hung out in from of the tree and fireplace.  It doesn’t get much better than that :-)

P.S. The picture of Jrock sweeping is because our dear puppy Luaghlin decided that he likes the taste of glass tree lights.  Yes, you read that right.  Luckily they weren’t plugged in when he crunched the first one!

Your tree is beautiful and I love your living room – so cozy. Where did you get the bookshelves that are in the corner? Hope you’re doing well – I’ve been thinking about you lots. A

Hi Heather! Now you get to see pictures of im all the time… and the rest of the family when they visit as well :-)

Andrea – the bookselves actually were Rona “finish yourselves” shelving – they are now discontinued, however… We stained and then oiled them for an old look, and bought the cute little acorn handles. Furniture repair/reno is one of my hobbies!

Thanks for both of your good wishes – we hope to have them home soon too!

    Hey Nicky.
so glad to see a real tree! it isn’t Christmas without one. Gotta say I love your living room. It is so rare to see houses with books in a room that people see. I think its kinda sad. I am a book lover too, and proudly keep them in my family room.
You must be getting excited/anxious about court. Hard to believe it is coming so fast. Can’t wait to hear that the girls are yours.
    Take care,
    Natasha

Kari – I have a feeling it won’t be so uniform :-) I may have to relinquis some control!

Natasha – you bet – I am getting anxious about court. Not if it will go through the first or second time – just hoping it will go through at all…. It’s somewhat nerve-wracking.

I’m hoping that Dad through in a few “bah-humbug”s for good measure! He looks far too cheerful for Christmas;)
