Hoping on an update

Nov. 20th | Posted by 8 comments

This part of the wait (aka adoption process) is much easier than waiting for a referral.  That said, it’s still waiting…

Our agency (Imagine Adoption) sends out updates every month on the kids.  It’s supposed to have new pictures of them, as well as notes on how they are doing, what they are learning, and bits about their personalities.

The description of their personalities is the part I think Jrock and I are most anxious about and interested in.  When we got the referral, we received pictures two awe-struck little girls who had been moved that day from the orphanage to the agency transition home.  So their pictures probably show a bit about what they are like in stressful situations… but not how they play, or smile, or laugh.  Those impressions, those insights into who they are on a daily basis, those are the things we are hungry for.

The agency does one floor in the home a week – takes pictures and writes reports.  One of our friends has 4 year old girls that we assume are in the same area of the transition home.  Her update last month was in the last week.  So we hope that we’ll get some information next week!

I’m so jealous of you guys! I don’t understand how IA can do updates every month but our agency has trouble with that!!!

Anyone, it’ll be great to see how much the girls grow and change every month.

I know, Rhonda – as I said on your blog, it’s the ONLY criticism I have of CAFAC… they do such a great job in other areas.

It’s so important for us waiting, expecting parents… I am living for that update next week. So see their faces – and OPING I will also see their smiles. Not for selfish reasons – I just want to know that they are having some happy times.

Updates have got to make the waiting that much easier. Rhonda is right. If Imagine can do it why can’t CAFAC. It’s going to be sooo exciting to get those updates.

I think it’s lovely that they are starting to do updates of personality, development etc. When we were waiting on Stinkerbelle, all we got is height and weight. These other little bits of information are pure gold!

Although I have yet to see one picture of a referred child with a smile — because I think they get all freaked out by the digital camera!! (I blame the little flashy-flashy red-light-thingy that’s supposed to reduce red eye, my own self.)

You are fortunate to get regular updates indeed. I’m sure it will help with the wait.
