Picnic with a friend’s daughters
My friend N just got home two weeks ago with her new little daughter from Ethiopia!
Little A – also known as "Miss Independant"
I missed seeing them at the airport so this past week I gave her a call and we went on a little outing. The newest addition, A, and her big sister, M, went with us to the farmer’s market. We got some sushi and potstickers and pretzels and had a picnic in the basement of the Environmental Education Centre across the street. Then, after looking at all the displayed owls on the top floor, we went off to the playground.
sushi, potsticker and pretzel picnic!
It’s just amazing to see how well A has adapted – I mean, she is only 3 years old and she is getting along well with her sister… M is doing a great job at becoming a “big sister” (she has two older brothers, so this is a major adjustment!) and it’s just great to see how well my friend N can communicate with A.
New sisters M & A
The other fascinating thing is to see how SMALL she is – we think our girls are maybe 6 months or so younger… but they are 1 inch shorter and 5+ pounds lighter. Definitely they are only in a size 2, although we think they are probably closer to 3 in age. Anyway, it’s nice they will have a playmate around their age – and from Ethiopia, to boot!

Hi ‘Nicky’!
Cute pictures! It’s especially fun knowing who “N” is. I can’t wait to chat with her sometime and meet the new little one. Ethiopian kids have got to be the most beautiful kids in the world. Maybe I’m biased already, but every one of them I have seen through pictures or in person are just stunning. Your new little gals are no exception. Just precious. That is GREAT that they’ll have a little Ethiopian friend around the same age. So cool. I hope our future baby will have that eventually too. That would be really neat. Our file is supposed to be heading to Imagine in the next day or two. Hopefully tomorrow. Derrick and I are going to order some books from you in the next few days. I’ve got to get him to sit down with me so we pick some out. I have so far read “There is no me without you,” and “The Family Nobody Wanted.” I LOVED both of them. Now I’m going to start on “I’m Chocolate, You’re Vanilla.”
My hubby is finally reading there is no me without you right now too…. it’s such a wonderful book. You can’t help but see the world differently after.
Good luck with that file going off! Onto Ethiopia!
Nicky
Hi Nicky,
Congratulations on your girls and thanks for the nice comments on my blog. I actually had read your blog before and it was so nice to see your referral come in. Hope it is not too long before you are able to bring them home!
