Waiting on the girls…

Aren’t they cute? They are both so great with kids – I think the challenge will be more training the girls to be good with the dogs!
Actually, many small children are VERY scared of dogs in Ethiopia… especially since it’s common practice in some areas to leave the garbage out at night for the hyenas… yikes! I’d be scared of dogs too!
So they photos that we are sending over in the album we have dogs and cats everywhere – which is pretty typical for our life! So at least they won’t be shocked that they exist; just that they are running around and licking and wagging and meowing and playing and…!
It will be a busy house, for sure.

My Goodness..you guys must be SO EXCITED!!!! The waiting must be killer but at leaast you know it will be soon! SOON!!! YAY!
P.S. Your fur babies are adorable! (They look anticipatory too!) As you said, “it will be a busy house for sure!” Busy is GOOD!! Here’s to that!

Hi there.
When we sent Eric a care package, I believe we sent him photos of the dog (border collie cross) and our three cats.
And when Eric first came home (10.5 months old), he was TERRIFIED of the dog … for about 20 minutes. I guess Eric just quickly figured out that the animals were not only NOT scary, but were actually kind of fun / funny.
Eric now loves, loves, loves the animals. His favourite is our cat Maggie (who is arguably mentally ill) – she is constantly biting Eric’s fingers and Eric thinks she’s the greatest jokester ever.
I’m sure your girls will become fast friends with your other kids.

Yes, my three year old was beyond terrified of dogs! We don’t have pets, but he saw his first dog at the airport when we arrived in Canada and it has been a challenge since then. He probably isn’t exposed to them enough to get over his fear. I have heard most kids begin to love their dogs and cats fairly quickly.
Now that he is sharing more stories, we are aware that he was chased by a dog/hyena at some point and he does have some scars they may have been a result of that. Any dog that I saw in Ethiopia was pretty scary, indeed!
Those pups are so cute, I am sure the girls will love them!
Holy what a great pic of the kiddies!

You are S.M.R.T Smart to send pics of the pups down to the girls. And this picture is so very sweet. The girls are going to love their furry friends.
