Our family on a walk in Invermere
Last weekend Jrock and I picked up our pooches and drove the car across a couple of mountain ranges to the little town of Invermere. Our mission? to spend Thanksgiving with my sister S and her husband M… and their three cats. (Poor cats.)
I was really shocked when we arrived in Invermere. Last time I was there, it was this tiny ho-boken town in the mountains. Much to my surprise, it has morphed into a holiday get-away for Albertans. It has cute shops, and few bakeries and restaurants, and breath-taking scenery. My sister moved to a resort-town!

So we went hiking, watched downloaded episodes of Australian “So you think you can dance!”, visited Lussier hotsprings, cleaned up 40,000 pools of puppy pee (Laughlin seemed to forget all his training away from home,) went for a massage at Radium (that was me – I was picking beans for an hour without standing up and put out my back the day before,) listening to a great country singer at the pub, cooked, ate, and relaxed.

I love that area. We used to take the kids to Panorama in the off-season except that I usually have Mark leave me back at the room when he drives to the natural hot springs…I am terrified of heights and that road on the way up (and down) and I don’t get along very well. The one time I did go, I was screaming and crying all the way up (thankfully, the kids just laughed at me and didn’t get scared themselves!). Nice that you now have a place to stay near there – there is so much to do there. Next time you go, you’ll have to go see the stolen church (pioneering husband “stole” it for his wife when they moved there).
Hi!!! Was just reading your Blog! My sister is in the process of adopting from Ethopia…and may be moving to Kelowna. And…..I sister ‘S’ (Sarah Jean) live in Invermere and my boyfriend is ‘M’ (Mikey). I recognize your brother…..probably from around town somewhere

Ok – that is SO WIERD!!!!! And cool! I hope you meet up with them in Invermere – just walk up to them and be crazy – she’ll like that!
As for your sister, she is welcome to contact me, as we have a great support group here for Okanagan adopting families…
