Our Baby is Sick

Hamish, my best friend, has been diagnosed with cancer. It’s in his liver, spleen and lymph-nodes – and it’s appeared since his last Xray in May. It’s the bad stuff – he only has 4-6 weeks to live if we are lucky. We are devastated. You may not hear from us for some time…
I don’t know how we will make it through this. I have slept with him almost every night for 9 years.
Oh Nicky, I am so sorry to hear this! We lost our 6 year old Boxer to cancer 4 years ago, and I can appreciate the grief you are currently feeling. It is heartbreaking.

Oh I am so very sorry. What hard news to hear. Hamish is such a wonderful friend, a faithful companion, and a member of your family. It is so hard to have to cope with such a devastating diagnosis. But it’s some comfort to know you can offer him the best care you can and all the love in the world for the time he has left.

I don’t know what to say except for I am so sorry. This is terrible news, we have bee through it and I feel for you. Pets are family members and you have every reason to be grieving. Take care of yourself. My heart and prayers are with you all.

Hi Nicky and Jrock,
You don’t know me but I check out your blog every so often as we are in the process of adopting a little girl from Ethiopia. I am so sorry to hear about Hamish. I am in tears writing this after I read your post and seen the picture. What a sweet looking little dog. Our little dog is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Rue and she is our best little bud too. She goes everywhere with us and does everything with us–even sleeps in our bed. She is laying right under my feet as I type this post to you. She really is like a kid to us. We love her so much. We have horses too and are attached to all our animals and love them just as much. So we too know how heartbroken and upset you feel right now. Just wanted to let you know that even though we’ve never met, we are thinking of you guys and Hamish.

I am so sorry. This happened to us last summer. It is one of the most difficult things I have ever experienced. My pups have been my kids for so long. Hold on to each other, treasure everyday you have left with him. Take care of yourself too.

I am so sorry. We lost a beloved Golden Lab a number of years ago and it devastated all. I know how much you come to love your animals, especially one who is a family member and not just a yard dog!! Hang in there!!

I’ve never left a reply before but I read your blog often as my husband and I are in the process of adopting an infant from Ethiopia as well. When I read your latest post I just had to reply because I feel so absolutley heartsick for you. We have a Boston Terrier and she is so precious to me and can’t even think about how painful it would be to lose her. Please know that you, your husband and your beautiful pup are in my thoughts. I’m so sorry.

You’ve brought me to tears. I am so sorry to hear that Hamish is sick. It is the hardest thing to lose one of your family. We lost our old girl in early May. We had been given a prognosis of months and she lived for almost 3 years. Cherish your time with him. You are in my thoughts

I am so sorry…I am bawling my eyes out right now…I don’t know what to say because I am sure not much would probably bring you comfort right now. Ahhh… I am so sorry to hear that )-: I love dogs, they are just as much a part of the family as anyone else (I grew up with dogs). Enjoy your time with your little guy while you still have him. It’s not fair that their lives can be so short )-:
