One of our on-line friends was waiting for a referral (after a very long road of waiting) and received a call when she was in Las Vegas two/three weeks ago! Jrock has been in Las Vegas all week for a conference, and I couldn’t help but feel we were going to get lucky in Vegas as well 
! Well, he comes back tomorrow but I still have that feelin’ that our referral is going to happen VERY soon….
So I called our agency today, full of optimism. (Usually I only call when I’m upset and can’t take it any longer.) I talked to this other case worker, since ours is on vacation, and she was a fountain of information!!! Our usual case worker is nice, but as tight with information as an oyster. This lady was like, oh, “let’s see here… yes! you are at the top of the list!”
Yahoo! We’re at the top of the list.
So I can’t wait for that phone call / email…
(And I can’t help but wonder if it’s possible to switch case workers. As nice as the other one is, info is more valuable to me at this point than politeness!)
By the way, any psychos out there reading my blog, don’t try robbing me in the middle of the night tonite because my husband is gone… I keep a hatchet under the bed when he’s away. I kid you not. Plus I’m the dangerous one anyway. The few times we’ve heard suspicious noises in the night, he’s poked me and whispered “you go look!” and I’ve ventured out with a kitchen knife or blunt instrument. Long and short, I wouldn’t plan on trying anything…. Plus, you’ve seen my ferocious dogs…

HOLY MOLY! You’re at the top!!!!!!!!!! That’s SO exciting!!!
(We must have the same caseworker… I am SO calling our substitute-caseworker this week before the usual one returns. Not that I expect to hear we’re at the top or anything… but I’ll do anything for more than the usual “standardized” reply!! I’m already formulating a “reason” for my call, lol.)
Anyway… HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m totally thrilled for you!

Happy to hear that you are “on top” of the list. I wish we would sometimes get some info like that. The way I figure it, we’ve been in for 6 months, so it should/could happen soon.

I wish we had that case worker. I believe ours has taken our file and burned it. And has a filter on her email to send all our emails into her junk mail bin.
Ahhhh! That is SO exciting! I can’t believe how she just told you that after how many hours spent obsessing on where you are in the list???!!!! What a great feeling to know….. In the right timing you will get the phone-call and you will never be the same! I can’t wait till you post with that news.
By the way, I love your little conclusion too. You are very funny.

but who knows. In any case, it was just great to get some news!
Now Dianne and Cinn, we can’t all go asking for a new case worker~ lol (Ok, so I’m just trying to figure out how to possibly do this diplomatically. Then I’ll be the first~)
I haven’t told Jrock yet, but he’ll be excited, I know! I stopped in at his office today and his boss asked how it was going so I spilled the beans about being the next on the list and he gave me an enthusiastic high-five. Nice to know you all are in our corner!
Great news Nicky! Did you see the comment on the yahoo group today, where Barb had a ‘feeling’ today? It was about you and your referral! I sure hope you get one soon. How exciting!!!!

I wonder why agencies and s/w seem to think it’s ok not to keep us abreast of all the updates…maybe after years of doing the job they forget how critical every step is to parents-to-be.

That is just sooooo exciting! To know that you are at the top of the list is absolutely incredible!!! That means that your kids could be in the transition home as I type, just awaiting the results of their medical! Wow…it’s wonderful that you were able to talk to that other worker. I bet that waiting just got a whole lot easier just knowing that you are the next in line!
The bottom of your post made me laugh out loud! I’m always worried about that too. When we went away to Hawaii, I was trying not to give any indication of when we would be gone just in case there are any weirdos reading my blog!
Woohoo! That is so super exciting! I have a feeling (or maybe it’s just some serious wishful thinking) that Bruce and I will get our referral on Monday when our adoption worker gets back from holidays. As long as this wait has been for both of us, we hopefully should both be celebrating VERY soon!!

Yay! What a great bit of news for you! It is so nice to come away feeling good about something in the process…there is so much uncertainty and waiting so good news and being at the top of the list is wonderful!!! I can’t wait to hear that you’ve gotten a referral!

The short answer is that I don’t know them personally, and so don’t have their email/passowrd. But I would suggest you contact the agency and see if they will pass on an email/message for you.
